Date: February 9, 2006 W&L'S GINDER NAMED DIVISION III MEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
SOMERS, Wisc. -- Washington and Lee junior Michael Ginder (Jacksonville, Fla./Episcopal) has earned Division III Men's Swimmer of the Week honors from CollegeSwimming.com for the week of Jan. 25-29. Ginder was chosen for the award following a stellar performance in a narrow loss to 10th-ranked Johns Hopkins on Jan. 28. He swam lifetime best times in winning the 100 back (52.07) and 100 fly (52.25), and in placing second in the 200 back (1:52.81). He also anchored the winning 200 free relay team that set a new pool record (1:25.64). In winning the 100 back, Ginder edged JHU's Ryan Kim, who holds the fastest 100 back time in Division III this season. A two-time First Team All-American in the 200 free and two-time Honorable Mention All-American in the 100 free, Ginder claims school-record times in the 50 and 200 free events in addition to swimming on two record-setting relay teams. Washington and Lee returns to the pool on Feb. 16-18 at the Bluegrass Mountain Championships. -- GENERALS --
