W&L's HAGERMAN NAMED TO ITA COLLEGIATE ALL-STAR
SKILLMAN, N.J. -- Former Washington and Lee women's tennis
player Lindsay Hagerman (Wichita Falls, Texas/Highland Park) was one of
26 players named to the 2005 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA)
All-Star Team presented by the The Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy.
Hagerman, a seven-time All American, was named to the ITA
All-Star Team after winning the 2005 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis
Singles Title. She became the first-ever W&L women's tennis player
to win the NCAA Singles Championship after she defeated DePauw's Liz Bondi,
5-7, 6-3, 6-2, in the finals. Hagerman, a two-time Old Dominion Athletic
Conference (ODAC) Player of the Year, was also named the 2005 ITA Atlantic
South Region and National Senior Player of the Year. She captured the
ITA Division III National Singles Championships this past fall and was
the ITA Co-National Rookie of the Year in 2002. Hagerman finished the
season with a record 37 wins (37-1) and also holds the W&L all-time
record for singles (117-17) and doubles (108-17) victories.
The ITA Collegiate All-Star Team includes the nation's top-ranked
men's and women's tennis players at the NCAA Division I, II, and III,
NAIA, and NJCAA levels, as well as champions from the 2004 ITA National
Intercollegiate Indoor Championships and 2005 NCAA Championships.
The ITA Collegiate All-Star Team will be treated by the
ITA and The Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy to a weekend in New York,
highlighted by the Aug. 26 activities at the West Side Tennis Club. Following
a breakfast at West Side, the ITA All-Stars will participate in doubles
play with guests from 9-11 am. Starting at noon, the ITA All-Stars will
then be honored at a special luncheon and presented their awards.
