Sophomore Wide Receiver Ranked Second Nationally in Receiving

Sophomore Jack Martin

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee sophomore wide receiver Jack Martin (Princeton, N.J./Hun School) has been named to the Team of the Week for his performance in the Generals' 27-24 win over Catholic on Saturday.

Martin, who was also named the ODAC Offensive Player of the Week, caught nine passes against the Cardinals for a career-high 217 yards and two touchdowns. Martin snared five balls during the Generals' 14-play, 80-yard game-winning drive, including the game-winning 2-yard touchdown reception with five seconds remaining.

Through five games, Martin has caught 39 passes for 755 yards and a school-record nine touchdowns. He is ranked second nationally in receiving yards per game (150.1) and is tied for 10th in receptions per game (7.8) in the latest Division III statistical rankings.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday at 1:00 pm at Hampden-Sydney College. The Generals (4-1, 2-0) will be looking for their first 5-1 start since the 1985 season.
