W&L MEN'S SWIMMING RANKED 10TH IN DIVISION III POLL
LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men's swimming team is ranked 10th in the latest Division III poll announced by CollegeSwimming.com. Additionally, several W&L individuals are nationally-ranked in their events.
W&L received 177.8 points in the poll and trails only NYU (209.8), St. Olaf (202.4), Johns Hopkins (202.4), Denison (200.7), College of New Jersey (198.4), Wisconsin-Stevens Point (186.8), Carnegie Mellon (185.9), Carthage (185.4) and SUNY-Geneseo (177.9).
Individually, junior Mike Ginder (Jacksonville, Fla./Episcopal) ranks third in Division III in the 200 free (1:40.12), eighth in the 100 free (46.32) and 13th in the 50 free (21.26). Sophomore Tim McGlaston (Attleboro, Mass./Attleboro) ranks seventh in the 50 free (21.18), while freshman Paul Crook (Nashville, Tenn./Montgomery Bell) is 16th in the 200 free with a top time of 1:43.28.
The Generals also have two nationally-ranked relay teams, led by the 200 free relay squad of McGlaston, senior Reed Evans (Greensboro, N.C./Greensboro Day), sophomore Alex Sweet (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Country Day) and Ginder, who rank fourth with a top time of 1:24.43. The 800 free relay team of freshman Brett Tatman (Marietta, Ga./George Walton), Crook, freshman Chris Diebold (Platte City, Mo./Lansdale Catholic) and Ginder also rank fifth with a top time of 6:56.27.
Washington and Lee is currently 4-0 and returns to action on Mon., Jan. 9, when it hosts ninth-ranked SUNY-Geneseo for a 7:00 pm meet.
