Strickler, Wallick and Lester to Represent Generals

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. -- Washington and Lee senior attacker Amanda Strickler (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) and senior defender Rachel Wallick (Phoenix, Md./Notre Dame Prep) have been named to the rosters for the 2006 STX Farewell Lacrosse Festival Division III North-South Senior All-Star game, while senior attacker Kate Lester (Wilmington, Del./Friends) was selected as an alternate. The game will be played on Sat., June 10 at Johns Hopkins University at 11:00 am.

Strickler, a First Team All-ODAC selection and ODAC Player of the Year, led the team in scoring with 67 points on 26 goals and a team-high 41 assists. Her 41 assists were the third-most in a season in W&L history, while her 67 points were the fourth-most in a season. Strickler recorded a season-high tying seven points on three goals and four assists in a 19-9 win over Christopher Newport in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on May 10. Strickler played in 74 career games with 61 starts and finished with 170 points on 84 goals and 86 assists. Her 86 assists rank second all-time at W&L and her 170 points are fifth all-time.

Wallick, a First Team All-ODAC pick, tallied eight points on six goals and two assists. She led the team with 30 caused turnovers and tied for fourth with 36 ground balls. Wallick keyed a W&L defense that led the ODAC and ranked in the nation in scoring defense (6.50 gpg). Wallick started 75 games in her career and notched 28 points on 23 goals and five assists.

Lester, who earned First Team All-ODAC honors, finished third on the team in scoring with 42 points on a team-high 39 goals and three assists, while picking up 31 ground balls and winning 17 draw controls. Lester has played in 74 career games with 57 starts and has 138 career points on 127 goals and 11 assists. Her 127 career goals rank fourth all-time at W&L.

W&L finished the season with a school-record 16-4 overall mark (8-0 ODAC) and won its fourth consecutive ODAC Championship. The 10th-ranked Generals also made their fourth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament and defeated Christopher Newport, 19-9, before falling to No. 4 The College of New Jersey, 16-6, in the second round.
