FOUR GENERALS EARN NSCAA ALL-SOUTH REGION ACCOLADES
Von Sternberg and Wiltshire Named to First Team


Junior forward Anne Wiltshire

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee placed four players on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-South Region women's soccer team which was announced on Thursday afternoon.

Senior midfielder Gina Von Sternberg (Houston, Texas/Episcopal) and junior forward Anne Wiltshire (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) were named to the first team, sophomore defender Haley Bunting (Houston, Texas/St. John’s) earned second team honors, and senior defender Heather Rogers (Atlanta, Ga./Lovett School) garnered third team recognition.

Von Sternberg, who also earned First Team All-ODAC and CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine College Division Academic All-District III second team honors, finished the season with 14 points on five goals and four assists. She ended her career with 47 points on 16 goals and 15 assists. Von Sternberg was named First Team All-ODAC as a junior, while garnering Second Team All-ODAC, ODAC Rookie of the Year, ODAC All-Tournament Team, First Team All-State and NSCAA Second Team All-Region honors as a freshman.

Wiltshire, who also notched First Team All-ODAC accolades, led the team in scoring with 36 points on 15 goals and six assists. She already ranks second all-time W&L in career goals (43) and third in career points (104). Wiltshire notched First Team All-ODAC, First Team All-State and NSCAA Third Team All-South Region honors as a sophomore and Second Team All-ODAC recognition as a freshman.

Bunting was a major factor in the Generals’ defense which allowed just 0.43 goals per game and produced a school-record 12 shutouts. She also contributed on the offensive end with three assists in earning First Team All-ODAC honors.

Rogers, who also earned First Team All-ODAC and CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine College Division Academic All-District III second team honors, spearheaded a W&L defense which allowed an average of just 0.43 goals per game and produced a school-record 12 shutouts. As a junior, Rogers earned First Team All-ODAC and ODAC All-Tournament team honors. She was also named Honorable Mention All-ODAC and to the ODAC All-Tournament team as a sophomore.

W&L finished the season with a 13-3-3 record (9-0-2 ODAC) and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in the last four seasons.
