Date: February 26, 2007 ODAC ANNOUNCES WOMEN'S SWIMMING
ALL-CONFERENCE PICKS SALEM, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athlete Conference recently announced the All-ODAC women's swimming team and Washington and Lee garnered seven selections. Junior Amy Roberson (Nacogdoches, Texas/Nacogdoches), sophomores Susan Mahoney (Richmond, Va./St. Catherines), Julianne Miata (Valhalla, N.Y./Westlake), Jessica Shaw (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park) and Lindsey Strachan (Midlothian, Va./Maggie L. Walker Governor's School), and freshmen Sarah Simpson (Charlotte, N.C./South Mecklenburg) and Jenna Worsham (Cumming, Ga./Wesleyan School) all were recognized as first-team selections. At the ODAC/Atlantic State Championships, Strachan, Worsham, Simpson and Mahoney were members of the first-place finishing 400 free relay team (3:44.20), while the team of Strachan, Mahoney, Roberson and Worsham touched first in the 200 medley relay (1:53.38). W&L also won the 200 free relay in a time of 1:41.89. Simpson, Miata, Worsham and Roberson competed on that relay team. Individually, the Generals had several winning performances over the championship weekend, including Strachan, who won the 200 back (2:10.49). Additionally, Shaw placed first in the 400 IM with a time of 4:43.78, which narrowly missed breaking the school record (4:43.68) The W&L women concluded their 2006-07 season with a 7-9 overall record and will return all but one swimmer to their roster in 2007-08. -- GENERALS -- |
