W&L VOLLEYBALL CITED FOR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT
Generals Among 44 Division III Squads Honored by the AVCA

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) recently announced that Washington and Lee University was one of 287 schools nationwide to have received the 2005-06 Game Plan/AVCA Team Academic Award.

The award, initiated in 1992-93, honors college and high school teams that achieved at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average during the school year. Recipients of the award range from NCAA Division I to High School for boys and girls. W&L was one of 44 Division III schools honored with the award, a first for the Generals.

Washington and Lee finished the 2005 season with a 32-5 overall record, its fifth straight Old Dominion Athletic Championship and a fifth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Generals enter the 2006 campaign with a 78-match winning streak against ODAC schools.
