Women Tabbed to Finish Second, Men Picked Fourth

SALEM, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference recently released its 2006-07 Preseason Coaches Poll for indoor track and the Washington and Lee women's team was picked second, while the men were selected in the fourth spot.

Roanoke tops the poll on the women's side with all six first-place votes (36), followed by W&L (30), Lynchburg (20), Bridgewater (19), Eastern Mennonite (17) and Virginia Wesleyan (6). On the men's side, reigning ODAC Champion Lynchburg sits atop the poll with four first-place votes (33). Bridgewater (32) appears a close second in the pool with one first-place vote, followed by EMU (25), W&L (17), Roanoke (13) and Virginia Wesleyan (6).

The women return sophomore Stacy Doornbos (Roswell, Ga./Lassiter), last season's ODAC Women's Indoor Track Rookie of the Year and Athlete of the Meet. Sophomore Vance Berry (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./Episcopal) returns for the men after earning First Team All-ODAC honors by winning the one mile run.

The Washington and Lee indoor track squads begins its 2006-07 season by competing in the Liberty Kickoff on Friday in Lynchburg, Va.
