Date: May 21, 2007 W&L's NATHANIEL JAMES HONORED BY GOLF COACHES ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA
NORMAN, Okla. -- The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) honored its 2007 Division III award winners at a banquet following the NCAA Golf Championships on Friday evening. Washington and Lee junior Nathaniel James (Keller, Texas/Keller) took home a trio of honors, including being named a First Team All-American, W&L's first since Jerry Maatman acheived the honor in 1977 and 1978. James was named to the PING Division III First Team All-America squad following his performance in the NCAA Tournament, placing in a tie for 19th place with a 75-75-78-79--307 (+19). He garnered Third Team All-America laurels a season ago. In addition to his All-America honor, James was also named PING First Team All-South Region and was tabbed to the Cleveland Golf Scholar All-America team. A three-time First Team All-ODAC selection, 2005 ODAC Rookie of the Year, 2006 ODAC Player of the Year and 2007 ODAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, James finished the 2007 season with a 74.0 stroke average over 25 rounds played. James will enter his senior campaign with a 74.3 career scoring average over 69 rounds played. -- GENERALS --
