Senior Scot Pittman Lauded With First Team Honors

Senior Scot Pittman

MISSION, Kan. -- Washington and Lee placed three players on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas Division III All-South Region men's soccer team, which was announced on Thursday afternoon.

Senior defender Scot Pittman (Waxhaw, N.C./Charlotte Country Day) was named to the first team, while junior goalkeeper Ted Sheedy (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) and junior midfielder Josh Dodds (Marion, Iowa/Linn-Mar) were both selected to the second team.

Pittman received the honor after being named First Team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference earlier this fall. He captained the Generals' defense, which allowed just 0.52 goals per game and posted 10 shutouts in 17 games. Pittman started every game and finished the season with a pair of assists.

Sheedy also notched First Team All-ODAC laurels after starting 15 games in goal this season. He recorded 37 saves for the season and posted an .841 save percentage. Sheedy's 0.49 goals-against average is a new W&L season record, while his eight shutouts are tied for the program record.

Dodds was also a first team all-conference selection in 2006 after starting all 17 games and finishing second on the team in scoring with 13 points on five goals and three assists. His four game-winning goals led the team and he will enter his senior season with 35 career points on 14 goals and seven assists.

Washington and Lee finished the 2006 season with a 12-3-2 overall record and a 6-2-1 mark in the ODAC. The Generals began the season with a school-record 10-game unbeaten streak and advanced to the ODAC Tournament semifinals before falling to eventual-ODAC Champion Lynchburg College, 1-0.
