W&L WINS VaSID COLLEGE DIVISION SPORTS SURVEY
Generals Claim Highest Winning Percentage of any Virginia School

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Washington and Lee was named the winner of the Virginia Sports Information Director's (VaSID) College Division All-Sports Survey on Wednesday morning.

The award is presented annually to the school at the non-Division I level that claims the highest overall winning percentage in all of its sports. A total of 27 schools across Virginia participate in either NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA or Independent competition.

Washington and Lee's 23-sport program posted a record of 220-89-5 (.709) during the 2006-07 season to edge out Christopher Newport's 69.1 winning percentage (221-98-3).

Virginia Wesleyan posted the highest men's sports winning percentage (.699), while Christopher Newport had the best women's sports winning percentage (.758). W&L finished third in men's winning percentage (.658) and second in women's winning percentage (.753).

Washington and Lee completed an amazing athletic season which saw the Generals win eight conference titles and send six teams and 15 individuals to the NCAA Tournament. The year was capped off with the women's tennis team claiming its first-ever NCAA National Championship.
