LEXINGTON, Va. - Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Mike Walsh has announced that Kiki Jacobs has been promoted to the position of aquatics director at the school. Jacobs will continue in her role of head women's swimming coach and will now coordinate the varsity, recreational, physical education and community aquatic programs at the school.
"We're very pleased to announce the promotion of Kiki Jacobs to aquatics director," said Walsh. "She has been a very successful coach and a fully contributing member of the Lexington community."
Jacobs took over as W&L's head women's swimming coach in 1991 and has led the Generals to a record of 45-30 in her first six seasons. Jacobs was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and Atlantic States Coach of the Year last season, marking the fifth straight year she has earned at least one of the honors. Jacobs has coached the Generals to four straight ODAC championships and has had at least one swimmer earn All-America honors for five straight years.
Jacobs came to W&L after serving as an assistant coach at Dartmouth College and Western Illinois University. She is a 1989 graduate of Dickinson College where she was an 11-time NCAA Division III All-American. She set seven Dickinson records and won nine Middle Atlantic Conference championship events and was named as Dickinson's Female Athlete of the Year in 1989.
Jacobs replaces Page Remillard as Aquatics Director. Remillard, who also served as W&L's head men's swimming coach, is now the Director of Athletics at Agnes Scott College. W&L will name a new men's swimming coach in the near future.
