Washington and Lee University has been selected to participate in the 1998 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship tournament. The Generals will host Denison (Ohio) University in a first round game on Wednesday, May 6 at 1:00 pm on Wilson Field.
Tickets for the contest will go on sale at noon on Tuesday, May 5 in the W&L athletic department offices and at other locations around campus. Ticket prices will be $3.00 for adults and $1.00 for children 12 and under.
Washington and Lee defeated VMI 17-10 on Saturday to complete the regular season with a 12-2 record. The Generals were ranked fourth in the latest STX/USILA Division III poll and will be making their first NCAA appearance since 1993 when they suffered an 8-7 loss at Ohio Wesleyan University in the quarterfinals.
Denison finished the regular season with a record of 7-5 after falling 10-9 in overtime to second-ranked Salisbury State on Saturday. Four of Denison's losses came by a single goal to teams that have also been selected for the tourney. This is the third straight appearance for the Big Red in the NCAA tourney.
