PARKER, TAURASSI NAMED TO ALL-SOUTH REGION TEAM;
Mahoney named to Second Team

Three members of Washington and Lee's women's lacrosse team have been honored by being named to the IWLCA/ Brine all- South Atlantic region team. Senior midfielders Whitney Parker (Richmond, Va./ St. Catherine's) and Lorraine Taurassi (Smithtown, N.Y./ Smithtown East) were both named to thte first team. Senior midfielder Mary Jo Mahoney (North Andover, Mass./ Severna Park (Md.) was named to the second team.

Taurassi led the Generals in scoring this year with 43 goals, 12 assists and 55 total points. She was named to the first team all-Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

Parker was second on the team in scoring with 38 goals, 7 assists, and 45 total points. She came in second in the voting for ODAC Player of the Year and was also named first team all- ODAC.

Mahoney netted 16 goals and dished two assists this season. She led the team with 74 ground balls. She was also voted to first team all-ODAC.

Parker and Mahoney each made first team all-region in 1997, while Taurassi made the second team.

All three players were also selected to play in the North-South all-star game on June 6 at Towson University.
