LEXINGTON, Va. - Patti Colliton, a member of the athletic training staff at Washington and Lee University since 1991, has been named as the Associate Athletic Trainer at the school. Colliton will assist head trainer Tom Jones with the overall operation of the athletic training program at W&L.
"We're very pleased that this newly created position will be staffed by Patti," said Director of Athletics Mike Walsh. "Patti has been a wonderful colleague and competent trainer since her arrival at W&L. All of our coaches and athletes have benefited greatly from her work."
Colliton began work at W&L in the fall of 1991 as a graduate assistant trainer while attending graduate school at the University of Virginia. Colliton received a Master of Education degree in athletic training from Virginia in 1992 and since that time has been an assistant trainer at W&L working primarily with the football and men's lacrosse teams. Colliton has been a certified trainer by National Athletic Trainers Association since 1991.
Colliton graduated magna cum laude from Plymouth State (N.H.) College in 1991 and served as a student athletic trainer all four years at the school. A Dean's List student, Colliton was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and received the Outstanding Physical Education Major Award her senior year.
A native of Tiverton, Rhode Island, Colliton resides in Lexington with her husband, Gavin, an assistant football coach at W&L, and their son, John.
