The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association has announced that Washington and Lee seniors Ed Dougherty (Evanston, Ill./Loyola Academy) and Robb Greenfield (Vero Beach, Fla./Choate Rosemary Hall, Conn.) have been named as Scholar All-Americans for the 1998 season. Dougherty and Greenfield were among 20 seniors in all divisions honored by the USILA.
Dougherty earned USILA third team All-America honors this spring, marking the second consecutive year he was named to the All-America squad. Dougherty tied for the team lead with 32 goals from his midfield position. A biology major, he was an honorable mention All-America selection last year.
Greenfield was also named to the third team on the USILA All-America team. A longstick midfielder, Greenfield was the top defensive player on the team and also added three goals and four assists while serving as a tri-captain. Greenfield is an economics major.
Washington and Lee, coached by Jim Stagnitta, finished the season with a record of 13-3 and advanced to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Division III tournament. Dougherty and Greenfield helped the Generals to a record of 43-16 in their four seasons.
Dougherty and Greenfield will be Washington and Lee's two representatives in the USILA North-South Senior All-Star game on June 13 at Nazareth College.
