ODAC Releases Fall Sports Polls
Generals Have No One Favorite, But All Should Contend

SALEM, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference released its annual fall sports polls determined by voting conducted by the league's coaches.

Washington and Lee did not have a team picked to finish as the league champion, but also had no team picked to finish lower than fifth.

Headlining the list for W&L was its defending conference champion volleyball team which was second in the voting behind Eastern Mennonite University. The Generals lost two All-ODAC selections, but do return the 1997 ODAC Player of the Year in junior Nancy Reinhart (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart).

The Generals' women's soccer squad was chosen third overall behind defending league-champion Lynchburg and Randolph-Macon. W&L won a school-record 14 games a season ago and returns 17 letterwinners, including the school's all-time leading scorer in senior Karin Treese (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson).

The W&L men's soccer team finished fifth of the ODAC’s ten teams, behind Roanoke, Virginia Wesleyan, Hampden-Sydney, and Eastern Mennonite. The Generals amassed an 11-6 overall mark a season ago, and welcome back 21 letterwinners, including the school's all-time leading scorer in senior Sam Chase (Marietta, Ga./Walton).
