LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee senior outside hitter Nancy Reinhart (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) has been named to the GTE Academic All-America volleyball team as a Second Team selection.
Reinhart is the 27th athlete from W&L to be named a GTE Academic All-American, and the school's first since the 1996-97 year when swimmer Nathan Hottle earned First Team honors and tennis player Natalia Garcia earned Third Team laurels.
Reinhart is a political science and journalism major that maintains a 3.62 grade-point average. On the court, she amassed 320 kills, 37 aces, and a school-record 429 digs this season in helping the Generals to their third straight ODAC title and first-ever NCAA Tournament berth. She was named First Team All-ODAC and All-State for the third straight year. Reinhart was the ODAC Player of the Year as a sophomore.
Reinhart also set Old Dominion Athletic Conference records for career kills (1,411) and career digs (1,511) in 1999, and holds 10 school single-match, single-season, and career records.
