LEXINGTON, Va. -- The 1999 Washington and Lee volleyball team was recently named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) preseason favorite for the upcoming season. Voting was conducted by the conference's coaches.
The team returns the majority of their 1998 squad which finished the season with a 26-2 record. The conference has also released their preseason soccer polls for 1999. The W&L women's soccer squad was predicted to play their way to a fourth place conference finish. The men were picked sixth in their poll despite returning two First Team All-ODAC selections.
The W&L volleyball squad enters the 1999 season with their sights firmly set on a fourth conference title in five seasons. Leading the way will be the 1997 ODAC Player of the Year, Nancy Reinhart (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart), and last season's Conference Rookie of the Year, Lindsay Ruckert (Metarie, La./Sacred Heart). The squad is coached by the 1998 ODAC Coach of the Year, Terri Dadio Campbell. Four starters and 10 letterwinners return from last season's championship team.

W&L will need to find a way to recover from the loss of all-time scoring leader Karin Treese. The squad does return one 1998 First Team All-ODAC selection, Kate Bidwell (Pensacola, Fla./Escambia).
The W&L men's soccer team is led by Jamie Parker (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) who enters the season as the school's second all-time leading scorer. Paul Wallace (Roanoke, Va./Patrick Henry), the 1998 ODAC Rookie of the Year, returns to provide a solid anchor for the Generals' midfield.
