BRIDGEWATER VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS EASTERN MENNONITE, 3-0, IN ODAC QUARTERFINALS

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Sophomore outside hitter Candy Baker (Faber, Va./Nelson County) and senior outside hitter Sarah French (Edinburg, Va./Central) each notched 12 kills to lead fifth-seeded Bridgewater past fourth-seeded Eastern Mennonite, 30-26, 30-17, 30-26, in the Quarterfinals of the ODAC Volleyball Tournament on Friday evening.

Baker also tallied 15 digs, while junior setter Tiffany Tumer (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby) registered 32 assists for the Eagles (17-12).

The Royals (14-14) were paced by junior middle hitter Bonnie Berry’s (Dalton, Ohio/Central Christian) 10 kills. Junior defensive specialist Jill Stoltzfus (Parnell, Iowa/Iowa Mennonite) recorded 11 digs and sophomore setter Kristin Short (Archbold, Ohio/Pettisville) added 19 assists.

Bridgewater advances to the semifinals were it will meet top-seeded Washington and Lee. The match is set to begin at 10:30 am Saturday morning.
