ROANOKE DEFEATS LYNCHBURG, 3-2, IN ODAC VOLLEYBALL QUARTERFINALS

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Roanoke College recovered from a two-game-to-none deficit to post a 23-30, 24-30, 30-16, 30-17, 15-8 win over Lynchburg College in ODAC Volleyball Tournament action on Friday evening at Washington and Lee.

Freshman middle blocker Heather Cook (Dublin, Va./Pulaski) spearheaded the comeback for Roanoke (16-11) with a game-high 23 kills. Sophomore setter India Long (Woodstock, Va./Central) and sophomore outside hitter Melissa Slusher (Altavista, Va./Altavista) each posted 12 digs, while sophomore setter Holly Holland (Roanoke, Va./William Byrd) notched 64 assists.

Lynchburg (22-9) was paced by senior outside hitter Beth Carter’s (Roanoke, Va./Cave Spring) 13 kills. Freshman setter Tara Bell (Quantico, Va./Quantico) added 19 digs and 36 assists.

Roanoke advances to the semifinals where it will play Emory & Henry at 10:30 am.
