W&L VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO EMORY IN NCAA TOURNAMENT, 3-1
ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team
saw its season end with a 23-30, 24-30, 30-23, 27-30 loss to host Emory
University in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Generals were led by senior outside hitter Emily Wolfing
(Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll), who had 18 kills and 14 digs. Sophomore
outside hitter Ashley Hurt (Altamonte Springs, Fla./Trinity Prep) had
12 kills, while junior middle blocker Susan Gaillard (Charleston, S.C./Porter-Gaud)
posted 11 kills. Junior middle blocker Taylor Gibson (San Diego, Calif./Point
Loma) added nine kills and five blocks, and junior setter Christine
Gladysz (Palm Harbor, Fla./Berkeley Prep) amassed 44 assists and 12
digs. The loss ended W&Ls season at 28-8 overall.
Emory improved to 30-6 overall and will face Texas Lutheran in the regional
championship match on Saturday at 7:00 pm. -- GENERALS -- W&L VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS MARYVILLE IN NCAA TOURNAMENT, 3-0 ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team
advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament with
a 30-28, 30-25, 30-23 win over Maryville on Thursday evening at Emory
University. The Generals (28-7) were paced by senior outside hitter
Emily Wolfing (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll), who had nine kills and
25 digs. Junior middle blocker Susan Gaillard (Charleston, S.C./Porter-Gaud)
had 11 kills and four blocks, while sophomore outside hitter Ashley
Hurt (Altamonte Springs, Fla./Trinity Prep) had 12 kills. Junior right
side Laura Byrne (Springfield, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy) added seven
kills, 12 digs and four blocks, and junior setter Christine Gladysz
(Palm Harbor, Fla./Berkeley Prep) amassed 40 assists and nine digs. With the loss, Maryville fell to 29-8 overall for the
season. Washington and Lee will face host Emory (29-9) in a second round match on Friday at 7:00 pm. In the other regional semifinal, top-seeded Trinity (Texas) squares off against Texas Lutheran, a 3-0 winner over Christopher Newport. The regional final will be played on Saturday at 7:00 pm. -- GENERALS -- W&L VOLLEYBALL WINS FOURTH STRAIGHT ODAC CHAMPIONSHIP GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball
team claimed its fourth straight ODAC Championship with 3-0 wins over
Virginia Wesleyan and Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon at Guilford
College. The Generals defeated VWC in the semifinals, 30-23, 30-23,
30-13, before downing Randolph-Macon in the championship match, 30-28,
30-13, 30-25. With the wins, W&L has now claimed seven of the last
eight ODAC Championships and is riding a 54-match winning streak against
ODAC opponents. In the win over the Marlins (19-8), W&L was led by
senior outside hitter Emily Wolfing (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll), who
had 15 kills, 13 digs and six aces. Junior right side Laura Byrne (Springfield,
Pa./Merion Mercy Academy) posted 10 kills and 13 digs, while senior
libero Jennifer Lux (Virginia Beach, Va./Cox) had a season-high 27 digs.
Junior setter Christine Gladysz (Palm Harbor, Fla./Berkeley Prep) added
47 assists, nine digs and four blocks. In the victory over R-MC (21-15), the Generals were paced
by Byrnes 16 kills and 14 digs. Wolfing tallied 16 kills and eight
digs, and junior middle blocker Susan Gaillard (Charleston, S.C./Porter-Gaud)
had 14 kills. Lux added 19 digs, while Gladysz amassed 51 assists and
16 digs. Byrne, Gaillard, Gladysz and Wolfing were all named to
the all-tournament team, with Gladysz claiming tournament MVP honors. W&L will now wait to find out who and where they will
be playing in the NCAA Tournament. -- GENERALS -- W&L VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS RANDOLPH-MACON WOMAN'S COLLEGE, 3-0 GREENSBORO, N.C.. -- The top-seeded Washington and Lee
volleyball team defeated eighth-seeded Randolph-Macon Womans College,
30-13, 30-14, 30-19, in an ODAC Tournament quarterfinal match on Friday
evening at the Ragan-Brown Field House on the campus of Guilford College. The Generals (25-7) were led by junior middle blocker
Taylor Gibson (San Diego, Calif./Point Loma), who registered a team-high
12 kills and three blocks. Senior outside hitter Emily Wolfing (Mt.
Airy, Md./South Carroll) added nine kills and six digs while senior
defensive specialist Jennifer Lux (Virginia Beach, V a./Cox) chipped
in with a team-best 15 digs and seven aces. Junior right side Laura

aces, and two blocks and junior setter Christine Gladysz (Palm Harbor,
Fla./Berkeley Prep) had six digs and 38 assists. With the loss, the WildCats finished their season with
a record of 11-19. Washington and Lee returns to the court on Saturday to
play the winner of the match between fourth-seeded Virginia Wesleyan
and fifth-seeded Emory & Henry in the ODAC Tournament semifinals.

with 41 assists and 23 digs in the victory over Eastern (11-5). Sophomore

3-0 NORFOLK, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team
ran its regular-season winning streak against ODAC opponents to 33 matches
over four seasons with wins over Emory & Henry and Virginia Wesleyan
on Saturday in Norfolk, Va. The Generals defeated E&H, 30-27, 30-12,
30-23, then downed the host Marlins, 30-27, 30-25, 30-21. In the win over Emory & Henry (4-5, 0-1), the Generals
were led by sophomore outside hitter Ashley Hurt (Altamonte Springs,
Fla./Trinity Prep), who totaled 15 kills. Senior outside hitter Emily
Wolfing (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) notched 10 kills, 11 digs and
three blocks, while junior middle blocker Susan Gaillard (Charleston,
S.C./Porter-Gaud) posted nine kills. Senior libero Jennifer Lux (Virginia

by senior outside hitter Emily Wolfing (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll),
who tallied 19 kills and 12 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Ashley Hurt
(Altamonte Springs, Fla./Trinity Prep) notched 12 kills, while junior
right side Laura Byrne (Springfield, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy) had 11
kills and eight digs. Junior setter Christine Gladysz (Palm Harbor,
Fla./Berkeley Prep) amassed 50 assists and 15 digs. In the loss to the Captains (5-2), the Generals were
led by Hurt, who totaled 18 kills and 10 digs. Wolfing contributed 13
