W&L WOMENS BASKETBALL FALLS TO EMU, 64-61,
IN ODAC QUARTERFINALS

SALEM, Va. -- The eighth-seeded Washington and Lee womens
basketball team used a 14-2 run late in the second half to pull within
62-61 of top-seeded Eastern Mennonite, but came up short as the Generals
fell, 64-61, to the Royals in the opening round of the ODAC tournament
on Thursday afternoon.
With 8:50 remaining, EMU (22-3) held a 60-41 lead over W&L (9-17),
but saw that lead slowly evaporate over the next 7:06.
Sophomore guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill) started
the Generals comeback bid with a pair of foul shots at 8:34, while
junior forward Emily Barker (Clifton, Va./Mount Vernon) drained a three-pointer
at 7:59 to cut the Royals lead to 60-52.
Eastern Mennonite ended its scoreless streak when sophomore forward Regina
Sours scored a layup at 6:59, but freshman guard Sarah Otey (Williamsburg,
Va./Hampton-Roads) answered for the Generals with a triple at 6:34 to
pull W&L back to within 62-55.
W&L continued its scoring drive as freshman forward Jessica Hunsinger
(Mayer, Ariz./The Orme School) scored back-to-back layups at 4:38 and
3:20, and senior forward Sara Michaels (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy)
added a bucket at 1:44 to set the score at 62-61.
The Generals would get no closer, however, as the go-ahead triple attempt
from Barker fell short with five seconds remaining and EMU gained the
ball and a trip to the foul line with 1.3 seconds on the clock. Sophomore
guard Carrie Grandstaff sank a pair of foul shots to set the final score
at 64-61.
Michaels led the Generals with a game-high 27 points and added 10 rebounds,
while Hunsinger scored 11 points, blocked four shots and grabbed a game-high
14 rebounds. Otey and Barker both scored eight points on the afternoon.
Sophomore guard Laura Ludholtz led EMU with 21 points and 13 rebounds,
while sophomore forward Stephanie Mathews and Grandstaff contributed 13
and 12 points, respectively.
The Generals conclude their season with an overall record of 9-17. Eastern
Mennonite, which advances to face fourth-seeded Guilford in the ODAC semifinals,
improved to 22-3.

W&L WOMENS BASKETBALL DROPS 85-56 DECISION
TO GUILFORD
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Guilford hit 32-for-61 (52.5%) from the
field, including 10-for-20 (50.0%) from three-point range to subdue Washington
and Lee, 85-56, on Sunday afternoon at the Warner Center.
Trailing by as much as 16 points in the first half, the Generals (9-16,
6-14) went on a 13-4 run in final 5:49 before the break to pull to within
37-30 of the Quakers (16-8, 14-6).
Following halftime, senior forward Sarah Michaels (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk
Academy) hit her third three-pointer of the day to pull W&L within
37-33, but the home team would get no closer as Guilford steadily pushed
its lead out to doulble digits and as many as 31 points before the end
of the contest.
Michaels co-led the Generals with 16 points and drained a trio of three-pointers
to become W&Ls all-time leader for three-pointers in a career
(92). Sophomore guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill) also
scored 16 points, while freshman forward Jessica Hunsinger (Mayer, Ariz./The
Orme School) reached double-digits with 10 points. Freshman guard Sarah
Otey (Williamsburg, Va./Hampton-Roads) scored eight points and dished
out a game-high six assists.
Senior forward Jennie Keichline (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) led
the Quakers with a game-high 25 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Sophomore
guard Jennifer King (Reidsville, N.C./Rockingham County) hit 4-for-4 from
three-point range for 21 points and senior guard A.J. Robertson (Eden,
N.C./Morehead) rounded out the Quakers double-digit scorers with
14 points.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Thursday when the eighth-seeded
Generals take on top-seeded Eastern Mennonite in the first round of the
ODAC Tournament. Game time is 12:30 p.m.

W&L WOMENS BASKETBALL FALLS TO BRIDGEWATER,
66-46
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Bridgewater used a 13-2 run over
the final 5:25 of the first half on its way to a 66-46 victory over Washington
and Lee in ODAC womens basketball action on Wednesday evening at
the Warner Center.
Following the break, the Generals (9-15, 6-13) cut the Eagles (19-5,
17-3) 15-point halftime advantage down to 10 points by 14:26 (40-30).
Washington and Lee was unable to maintain the offensive output, however,
and by 12:11 (47-32) Bridgewater regained a 15-point lead it wouldnt
relinquish the remainder of the evening.
Freshman forward Jessica Hunsinger (Mayer, Ariz./The Orme School) led
W&L with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while sophomore guard Louisa Feve
(Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill) also contributed 12 points. Senior forward
Sarah Michaels (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) also reached double-figures
with 10 points and freshman guard Sarah Otey (Williamsburg, Va./Hampton-Roads)
scored six points and swiped a game-high eight steals.
Junior center Krystal Hermes (Warrenton, Va./Liberty) led Bridgewater
with game-highs of 15 points and 11 rebounds, while freshman guard Katy
Herr (Staunton, Va./Robert E. Lee) also recorded a double-double with
12 points and 10 rebounds, while snatching six steals and dishing out
five assists.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Sunday when it hosts Guilford
in the regular season finale. Game time is 3:00 p.m.

W&L WOMENS BASKETBALL IS DEFEATED BY RANDOLPH-MACON,
79-61
ASHLAND, Va. -- Washington and Lee freshman forward Jessica Hunsinger
(Mayer, Ariz./Orme School) tallied a career-high 26 points and seven rebounds,
but it wasnt enough as the Generals fell to Randolph-Macon, 79-61,
in ODAC womens basketball action on Friday evening.
The Yellow Jackets (15-7, 13-4) began the game with a 21-9 over the opening
7:34 and went into the half with a 42-28 advantage. Another R-MC run,
this time an 11-2 serge over the first 2:49 of the second half, gave the
Yellow Jackets a 53-30 lead that they would not relinquish.
Sophomore guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill) supplimented
Hunsingers effort with 17 points and seven rebounds. The Generals
(9-14, 6-12) shot 46.2 percent from the floor, but committed 25 turnovers
in the contest.
Randolph-Macon was led by Megan Silva, who tallied 20 points, seven assists
and seven steals. Kristen Morgan added 13 points.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday as it hosts Bridgewater

W&L WOMENS BASKETBALL DOWNS LYNCHBURG 62-60
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Senior forward Sarah Michaels (Norfolk,
Va./Norfolk Academy) drilled a three-pointer with 4.2 seconds remaining
to push the Washington and Lee womens basketball team past Lynchburg,
62-60, in ODAC womens basketball action on Tuesday night at the
Warner Center.
With 2:30 remaining, sophomore guard Lacey Currle (Fairfax, Va./Bishop
OConnell) sank a layup off an assist by sophomore forward Lori Fletcher
(Charlottesville, Va./Western Albemarle) to give the Hornets (11-11, 7-10)
a five-point lead at 58-53.
The Generals (9-13, 6-11) were unable to convert on their next possession
as a missed layup by Michaels put the ball back in Lynchburgs hands,
but the visitors were unable to take advantage of the opportunity, giving
the ball back to W&L at 2:04.
A layup by freshman forward Jessica Hunsinger (Mayer, Ariz./The Orme School)
at 1:56 pulled the home squad within 58-55, and another by sophomore guard
Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill) at 1:20 cut the Hornets
lead to one point (58-57).
Another layup by Hunsinger with 44 seconds remaining completed the comeback
and gave the Generals a 59-58 advantage, but Lynchburg responded with
18 seconds remaining as Currle grabbed her own rebound and sank the go
ahead bucket (60-59).
Michaels three-pointer was her third triple of the night, compliments
of an assist by junior guard Bethany Dannelly (Raleigh, N.C./William G.
Enloe).
Michaels led W&L with 18 points and co-led the squad with eight rebounds.
Hunsinger also grabbed eight boards and contributed 17 points, while Feve
rounded out the Generals double-digit scorers with 12 points.
Senior guard Abby Pyzik (Westminster, Md./Mercy) scored a game-high 20
points for Lynchburg, while Currle also reached double-figures with12
points.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Friday when it travels to Randolph-Macon

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Playing without starting guards Bethany Dannelly
(Raleigh, N.C./Enloe) and Sarah Otey (Williamsburg, Va./Hampton-Roads
Academy) due to injuries, Washington and Lee was defeated by Guilford,
69-38, on Friday evening in ODAC womens basketball action.
The Generals (8-13, 5-11) hung tough through the first half of play,
trailing by just seven points (30-23) at the break. However, a 12-2 Quaker
run early in the second half put the game away. W&L shot just 26.0
percent for the game and committed 23 turnovers.
Freshman forward Jessica Hunsinger (Mayer, Ariz./Orme School) led the
Generals with game-highs in points (14) and rebounds (14). Senior forward
Sarah Michaels (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) contributed 12 points.
Guilford (12-7, 10-5) was paced by Dara Burkes 10 points and seven
rebounds.

WOMANS, 57-41
LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Washington and Lee shot just 24.1 percent (14-58) from
the field in falling to Randolph-Macon Womans College, 57-41, in
ODAC womens basketball action on Tuesday evening.
The Generals (8-12, 5-10) led the contest 15-14 with 9:53 remaining in
the opening half, but the WildCats closed the half on a 15-7 run to assume
a 29-22 edge at the break. W&L pulled to within six points (45-39)
with 4:18 to play, but could get no closer as it was hampered by shooting
just 18.8 percent (6-32) in the second half. RMWC (5-13, 3-11) then scored
12 of the final 14 points to run away with the win.
W&L was paced by senior forward Sarah Michaels (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk
Academy), who tallied 14 points and 12 rebounds. Freshman forward Jessica
Hunsinger (Mayer, Ariz./Orme School) added 12 points and a game-high 16
boards.
Randolph-Macon Womans College was led by Amy Dameron, who scored
19 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Megan Stensrud also contributed 12
points for the WildCats.

W&L WOMENS BASKETBALL FALLS TO ROANOKE, 50-47
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Roanoke received points from nine
different players as the Maroons downed Washington and Lee, 50-47, in
ODAC womens basketball action on Sunday afternoon at the Warner
Center.
Down 16-5 with 10:59 left in the first half, Roanoke(7-11, 6-8) used a
15-2 run through the remainder of the first stanza to assume a lead (20-18)
it would maintain the remainder of the game.
With 3:11 remaining in the contest, freshman guard Cindy McGraw (Lynchburg,
Va./EC Glass) drained a three-pointer to give Roanoke a seven point lead
(47-40), its largest of the game.
The Generals (8-11, 5-8) responded as freshman forward Jessica Hunsinger
(Mayer, Ariz./The Orme School) hit a jumper on W&Ls next possession
to make it 47-42 with 2:47 remaining.
The Maroons were unable to answer, and a foul shot from Hunsinger and
a pair from the charity stripe by senior forward Sarah Michaels (Norfolk,
Va./Norfolk Academy) across the next 1:52 pulled the Generals to within
47-45 with 55 seconds remaining.
A bucket from sophomore guard Lindsay Renolds (Roanoke, Va./Cave Spring)
at the 49-second mark gave the Maroons a 49-45 lead, but Hunsinger kept
the Generals within two-points when she hit a jumper with 38 seconds remaining
to make it 49-47. Roanoke added another foul shot to the scoreboard compliments
of McGraw with 25 seconds remaining , but the Generals were unable to
answer as a desperation triple from Michaels missed the mark at the buzzer.
Sophomore guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill) led three
Generals in double figures with 15 points, while Hunsinger tallied 13
points and 13 rebounds. Junior guard Bethany Dannelly (Raleigh, N.C./William
G. Enloe) rounded out the afternoons double-digit scorers with 11
points, while Michaels grabbed 12 rebounds.
Senior guard Meghan McCue (Covington, Va./Alleghany) led the Maroons with
nine points, while McGraw tallied eight points. Junior forward Kayce Smith
(Chattanooga, Tenn./The Baylor School) was Roanokes leading rebounder
with seven boards.

HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Eastern Mennonite used a 21-3 run over 7:18 of the
first half in cruising to a 98-59 win over Washington and Lee in ODAC
womens basketball action on Tuesday evening.
The Royals (15-1, 11-1) held a slim 16-12 lead with 12:01 remaining in
the first half, but saw the lead balloon to 23 points (49-26) by halftime.
The Royals shot 53.0 percent for the game and forced 22 W&L turnovers
in leading by as many as 42 points in the second stanza. The 98 points
were also the most ever scored against a W&L womens basketball
team.
The Generals (8-10, 5-8), who shot just 25.7 percent (9-35) in the first
half, were paced by sophomore guard Louisa Feves (Bethesda, Md./Winston
Churchill) 22 points on 5-of-9 shooting from beyond the arc. Senior forward
Sarah Michaels (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) added 11 points.
Carrie Grandstaff paced five Royals in double-figures with 19 points
on 5-of-6 shooting from three-point range. Amanda Reynolds scored 18 points
and Laura Ludholtz contributed 13 points and nine rebounds.

& HENRY, 78-67
EMORY, Va. -- Emory & Henry used a 14-0 run early in the first half
for a 78-67 win over Washington and Lee in ODAC womens basketball
action on Saturday afternoon.
The Generals (8-9, 5-7) led 8-7 with 15:56 to play before E&H used
its 14-point run over the next 2:58 to assume a 21-8 lead that it would
not give up. Senior guard Dawn Chewning scored 10 points during the run.
Washington and Lee was led by sophomore guard Louisa Feve (Betheda, Md./Winston
Churchill), who scored a game-high 24 points on 10-of-17 shooting. Freshman
forward Jessica Hunsinger (Mayer, Ariz./Orme School) notched 20 points
and 12 rebounds, while junior guard Bethany Dannelly (Raleigh, N.C./Enloe)
added eight points, seven assists and five rebounds.
Emory & Henry (9-7, 6-5) was paced by Chewning, who tallied 19 points.
Senior guard Danielle Moore contributed 18 points and five steals.

W&L WOMENS BASKETBALL FALLS TO HOLLINS, 67-65
HOLLINS, Va. -- Freshman Amanda Kite scored a career-high 20 points to
lead Hollins University past Washington and Lee, 67-65, on Friday evening
in ODAC womens basketball action.
Hollins held a slim 29-26 halftime edge, but saw the Generals take a
four-point lead (48-44) with 11:16 remaining in the game. However, W&L
could not pull away and the two teams fought it out with the game being
tied six times in the final 11 minutes. The Generals again took the lead
at 62-61 with 2:35 to play on a three-pointer by senior forward Sarah
Michaels (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy), but Hollins hit six straight
foul shots in the final 2:15 to secure its first ODAC win of the season.
W&L (8-8, 5-6) was led by sophomore guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda,
Md./Winston Churchill), who scored a game-high 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting
from the floor. Michaels tallied 18 points, while freshman forward Jessica
Hunsinger (Mayer, Ariz./Orme School) notched 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Hollins (2-11, 1-9) was paced by Kites career night. Junior guard
Brandi Cochran added 18 points on 8-for-8 shooting from the floor. Hollins
hit all 13 of its free throws and shot 54.3 percent (25-46) from the floor.

W&L WOMENS BASKETBALL DEFEATS MARY WASHINGTON,
55-50
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Freshman forward Jessica Hunsinger
(Mayer, Ariz./The Orme School) led four Generals in double-figures with
a game-high 14 points as Washington and Lee defeated Mary Washington,
55-50, in womens basketball action on Monday evening at the Warner
Center.
With 27 seconds remaining in the game, a pair of Eagle (4-9) foul shots
from junior guard Laura Hanks (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) made it
a one-possession game at 52-50 in the Generals (8-7) favor.
Using only its fifth foul of the second half, Mary Washington stopped
the clock with 25 seconds remaining, but a quick inbound play by W&L
forced the Eagles to foul again, this time sending sophomore guard Louisa
Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill) to the line.
Feve hit her first look from the charity stripe but couldnt give
the Lexington squad a two-possession lead as her second shot fell short.
Sophomore guard Jenn Olinger (Warrenton, Va./Liberty) grabbed the ensuing
rebound and an Eagle timeout stopped play with 19 seconds left on the
game clock.
On the next play, junior guard Bethany Dannelly (Raleigh, N.C./William
G. Enloe) swiped a steal from sophomore guard Diane Frantz (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax)
and then earned a trip to the foul line with seven seconds remaining,
when Frantz was forced to foul. Dannelly ended Mary Washingtons
chances to tie the game as she buried both foul shots.
Hunsinger combined a game-high 12 rebounds with her 14 points, while senior
forward Sarah Michaels (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) also recorded a
double-double after scoring 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Dannelly
and freshman guard Sarah Otey (Williamsburg, Va./Hampton-Roads) each contributed
12 points in the victory.
Sophomore forward Lindsey Forbush (Clifton, Va./Fairfax) led the Eagles
with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Hanks rounded out Mary Washingtons
double-digit scorers with 10 points.

W&L WOMENS BASKETBALL FALLS TO LYNCHBURG,
70-61
LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The Lynchburg womens basketball
team recovered from a 10-point, halftime deficit to defeat Washington
and Lee, 70-61, in ODAC action on Saturday afternoon.
After enjoying a 35-25 lead at the half, the Generals (7-7, 5-5) suffered
a 14-4 run by the Hornets that tied the contest, 39-39, with 13:19 remaining
in the game.
The score remained close over the next 10 minutes as each team regained
the lead twice and the score was locked up four times. At 3:19 Lynchburg
guard Shannon Newton drilled her second three-pointer of the day to raise
the score to 55-52 and give the Hornets the final lead of the game. Lynchburg
outscored the Generals, 18-9, in the final minutes to record the win.
Sophomore guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill) led W&L
with a game-high 22 points, while junior guard Bethany Dannelly (Raleigh,
N.C./William G. Enloe) grabbed a team-high eight rebounds and rounded
the Generals double-digit scorers with 10 points.
Caroline Wesley led three Hornets in double-figures with 18 points, while
Abby Pyzik combined 17 points with a game-high 13 rebounds for the games
only double-double. Shannon Newton also reached double-digits with 16
points on the afternoon.

WESLEYAN, 49-44
NORFOLK, Va. -- The Washington and Lee womens
basketball team overcame an 11-point, halftime deficit to defeat Virginia
Wesleyan, 49-44, in ODAC action on Friday evening at the Batten Center.
After connecting on just 6-of-29 (20.7%) from the field and 4-of-8 (50.0%)
from the foul line in the first half, the Generals (7-6, 5-4) entered
the second half down, 27-16.
Virginia Wesleyan (3-8, 2-6) maintained its lead early in the second stanza,
increasing its advantage to 35-22, with 14:06 left in the contest. The
Marlins lead was destined to be short-lived however, as junior forward
Emily Barker (Clifton, Va./Mount Vernon) hit a three-pointer at 12:56
and kicked off an eight minute, 11-0 run to pull the Generals to within
two points (35-33) of the home team.
Virginia Wesleyan broke their scoreless streak at 5:26 with a layup from
Michelle Dove, but W&L immediately responded as freshman forward Sarah
Hunsinger (Mayer, Ariz./The Orme School) dropped in a layup at 5:16. Freshman
guard Sarah Otey (Williamsburg, Va./Hampton-Roads) completed the comeback
with another layup at 4:52, tying the game for the first time with the
score locked at 37-37.
The Generals took the the lead for the first time in the game when junior
guard Bethany Dannelly (Raleigh, N.C./William G. Enloe) scored a pair
of foul shots at 3:39 (39-37). W&L increased its lead to six-points
(45-39) with 2:10 remaining, but the Marlins fought back to within 45-44
with one minute to play. W&L was unable to convert on its next possession
as a shot from senior forward Sarah Michaels (Norfolk, Va./Granby) missed
the mark. A quick steal by Michaels, however, earned her both the
ball and a trip to the charity stripe with nine seconds remaining.
The W&L senior converted both her looks from the line to increase
the Generals lead to 47-44. On the next Marlin possession, Dannelly
swiped her own steal and earned a trip to the foul line with one second
left. She scored both shots and put the game out of reach at 49-44.
Sophomore guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill) led W&L
with 13 points and a co-team-high nine rebounds. Michaels also grabbed
nine boards while scoring 12 on the evening, while Hunsinger rounded out
the Generals double-digit scorers with 10 points.

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Freshman forward Jessica Hunsinger
(Mayer, Ariz./The Orme School) scored a career-high 24 points as the Washington
and Lee womens basketball team overcame a 10-point deficit and defeated
Hollins, 60-57, in ODAC action on Tuesday evening at the Warner Center.
Hollins (1-9, 0-7) took a 50-40 lead with 9:12 remaining in the game as
junior guard Brandi Cochran (Hillsville, Va./Carroll County) closed a
17-6 run by the visitors with her third three-pointer of the day.
Following Cochrans triple, Hunsinger went to the charity stripe
at 8:23 and hit 1-of-2 foul shots, sparking a 20-7 game-ending run for
the Generals (6-6, 4-4). With 1:31 remaining, W&L took the lead for
good as senior forward Sarah Michaels (Norfolk, Va./Granby) drained a
three-pointer and set the score at 58-55 in the Generals favor.
Hunsinger combined a game-high 17 rebounds with her 24-point performance,
while sophomore guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill) contributed
14 points, 11 rebounds and a game-high five assists. Michaels, whos
three-pointer in the final moments of the game marked her only points
of the second half, scored nine in the first half for 12 points on the
day.
Cochran combined a 6-for-11 performance from the field with a 3-for-6

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Senior forward Sarah Michaels (Norfolk,
Va./Norfolk Academy) tied her season-high with a game-high 28 points as
the Washington and Lee womens basketball team defeated Virginia
Wesleyan, 69-56, in ODAC action on Saturday afternoon.
Down 20-21 with 4:56 remaining in the first half, the Generals (5-6, 3-4)
went on an 18-4 run to end the half, taking a 38-25 lead into the halftime
break. Watching W&Ls advantage swell to 20 points in the second
half, Virginia Wesleyan (3-7, 2-5) battled back to within 11 points in
the final moments of the game, but would get no closer.
Michaels was also second on the team with eight rebounds while freshman
forward Jessica Hunsinger (Mayer, Ariz./The Orme School) recorded her
fifth double-double of the season after combining 15 points with a game-high
15 rebounds. Sophomore guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill)
rounded out the Generals double-digit scorers with 14 points. Junior
guard Bethany Dannelly (Raleigh, N.C./William G. Enloe) was also among
the W&L leaders with a season- and game-high seven assists.
Senior guard Devin Allen (Machipongo, Va./Northampton) led the Marlins
with 12 points, while freshman guard Michelle Dove (San Antonio, Texas/Judson)
was second on the squad with 10 points. Freshman center Nicole Thurston
(Ramstein, Germany/American) rounded out the Virginia Wesleyan leaders

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Four Yellow Jackets scored in double-figures
as Randolph-Macon defeated Washington and Lee, 82-68, in ODAC womens
basketball action on Friday evening at the Warner Center.
The Yellow Jackets (9-4, 7-1) connected on 21-of-38 (55.3%) from the field
on their way to a 46-36 halftime lead, and extended that lead in the second
half to finish the day 32-for-65 (49.2%) from the field. For the game
the Generals (4-6, 2-4) shot 23-for-65 (35.4%) from the field and 17-for-27
(63.0%) from the foul line.
Freshman Sarah Otey (Williamsburg, Va./Hampton-Roads) led W&L with
a career- and game-high 20 points, while freshman forward Jessica Hunsinger
(Mayer, Ariz./The Orme School) and sophomore guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda,
Md./Winston Churchhill) each contributed a double-double. Hunsinger scored
17 points and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds, while Feve scored 11 points
and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Sophomore center Michelle Orton (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) led Randolph-Macon
with 18 points, while sophomore guard Megan Silva (Glen Allen, Va./Hermitage)
scored 17 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. Junior center
Emily Crider (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) and Henshaw rounded out the Yellow
Jackets double-digit scorers with 13 and 10 points, respectively.

TO EMU
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Eastern Mennonite used a 38-35
first-half advantage to down Washington and Lee, 68-65, in ODAC womens
basketball action on Tuesday evening at the Warner Center.
The Generals (4-5, 2-3), who trailed by no more than six in the second
half and tied the game twice, pulled to within one point of the Royals
(8-1, 5-1) with 66-65 showing on the scoreboard and 24 seconds remaining
in the contest.
A quick foul by sophomore guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill)
with 23 seconds remaining put guard Carrie Grandstaff (Luray, Va./Mt.
Carmel Christian) on the line for a 1-and-1 situation, but the EMU sophomore
was unable to convert the initial look.
Senior forward Sarah Michaels (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) grabbed the
rebound for W&L, but sophomore guard Laura Ludholtz (Mount Crawford,
Va./Fort Defiance) picked Feve for the steal and put the ball in EMUs
possesion with 11 seconds remaining and the score still, 66-65.
Freshman guard Sara Otey (Williamsburg, Va./Hampton-Roads) fouled Luholtz
to stop the clock with nine seconds remaining, allowing the Royals high-scorer
to advance the visitors lead to 68-65.
Despite several shots in the final seconds, the Generals where unable
to alter the scoreboard again.
Michaels led W&L with 19 points and finished second on the squad with
nine rebounds. Otey contributed 13 points, dished out five assists and
led the Generals with 11 rebounds for her first career double-double,
while freshman forward Jessica Hunsinger (Mayer, Ariz./The Orme School)
scored 13 points and grabbed eight boards.
Eastern Mennonites Ludholtz led all scorers with 27 points and grabbed
a game-high six steals while Grandstaff and sophomore forward Amanda Renalds
(Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby) scored 14 and 13 points, respectively.
Washington and Lee sank 24-of-65 (36.9%) from the field while the Royals
managed to connect on 29-of-65 (44.6%).
The Generals return to action Friday when they host ODAC-foe Randolph-Macon.

W&L WOMENS BASKETBALL FALLS TO ROANOKE, 67-65,

SALEM, Va. -- The Washington and Lee womens
basketball team overcame a 15-point deficit to send their ODAC contest
with Roanoke into overtime on Saturday afternoon, but the Maroons outpaced
the Generals in extra minutes and took the 67-65 decision.
The Maroons (2-5, 1-2) took a three-point lead into halftime and quickly
extended that lead to 15 points with a 17-5 run to open the second stanza,
notching the score at 44-20 with 10:47 left to play.
Washington and Lee (4-4, 2-2) responded to the challenge with a run of
its own, using the next nine minutes to outscore Roanoke, 21-10, and pull
the Maroons to within, 54-50, with 1:55 remaining in regulation.
Junior guard Bethany Dannelly (Raleigh, N.C./William G. Enloe) kept the
momentum on the Generals side as she picked Cindy McGraw for a steal
with 45 seconds remaining and added three-points to W&Ls comeback
bid with a layup and foul shot compliments of a foul by Lindsay Reynolds.
Leading 54-53, Roanoke was unable to convert on its next trip down the
court as Kayce Smith turned the ball over and gave the Generals another
look at the hoop with 26 seconds remaining. On the next play senior forward
Sarah Michaels (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) earned a trip to the charity
stripe with 10 seconds left in regulation thanks to a foul by Reynolds.
Michaels hit the first of her two looks to tie the game, but couldnt
find the hoop a second time, sending the game into overtime.
Michaels led W&L with a season and game-high 28 points, while sophomore
guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill) added 16 points to
the Generals offensive efforts. Freshman forward Jessica Hunsinger

Senior forward Sarah Michaels (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) led W&L
with her second-straight double-double, coming on a game-high 23 points
and a career-high 17 rebounds. Freshman forward Jessica Hunsinger (Mayer,
Ariz./The Orme School) notched her second career double-double after scoring
14 points and grabbing a game- and career-high 18 rebounds.
Sophomore guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill) was among
the Generals leaders with 15 points, seven rebounds and a game-
and career-high seven assists. Freshman guard Sarah Otey (Williamsburg,
Va./Hampton-Roads) rounded out W&Ls double-digit scorers after
tying her career-high with 12 points.
Southern Virginia (5-9) was led by junior center Carlie Wiechmans
(Sandy, Utah) team-high 18 points. Senior guard Tania Moe (Troy, Mich.)

rebounds apiece.
The victory stretched the Generals winning streak to three games
and eclipsed last seasons win total.
Washington and Lee will take an extended break from competition before

ST. MARYS CITY, Md. -- Washington and Lee senior forward
Sarah Michaels (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) scored a season-high 26
points and grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds to lead the Generals past
St. Marys, 73-54, in womens basketball action on Saturday
afternoon.
Michaels scored six of her points on a pair of three-pointers that ignited
a 12-2 W&L run to close the first half, giving the Generals a 34-25
halftime edge that they would not relinquish.
For the game, Michaels canned 5-of-8 three-point attempts and had three
assists. Sophomore guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill)
scored a season-high 20 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out
a team-high five assists to compliment Michaels effort. Freshman
forward Jessica Hunsinger (Mayer, Ariz./The Orme School) added 10 points
and eight rebounds.
St. Marys (1-4) was led by Megan Baskins, who scored 22 points.
Katie Greenberg and Amanda Polidoro both recorded 11 points.
With the win, W&L matched its win total from all of last season.

BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- Bridgewater freshman forward Jessica Young hit two
free throws with 5.5 seconds remaining to lift the Eagles to a 54-53 win
over visiting Washington and Lee in ODAC womens basketball action
on Monday evening.
The Generals (1-3, 1-1) assumed a 53-52 lead with 1:24 remaining in the
game as junior forward Emily Barker (Clifton, Va./Mount Vernon) nailed
a three-pointer. Both teams traded possessions before Young was fouled
in a loose-ball scramble and hit the game-winning charity tosses.
W&L trailed 34-28 at the half and by as many as 10 points in the
early moments of the second half before coming back to tie the game at
48-48 on a pair of free throws by freshman guard Sarah Otey (Williamsburg,
Va./Hampton-Roads) with 7:41 remaining in the game.
The Generals were paced by freshman forward Jessica Hunsinger (Mayer,
Ariz./Orme School), who tallied 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Otey notched 12 points, while senior forward Sarah Michaels (Norfolk,
Va./Norfolk Academy) added nine points and 10 rebounds.

W&L WOMENS BASKETBALL IN ACTION AT PEACE
HOSTED JACKIE AMMONS MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT
RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Washington and Lee womens
basketball team dropped a pair of decisions this weekend at the Jackie
Ammons Memorial Tournament, hosted by Peace College in Raleigh, N.C.
In the opening game, held on Friday, the Generals fell to Peace, 62-43.
Washington and Lee (0-2) returned to action on Saturday, dropping the
consolation final to Howard Payne, 61-60.
Against Howard Payne (1-0) the Generals trailed 58-60 after freshman forward
Jessica Hunsinger (Mayer, Ariz./The Orme School) drained a pair of foul
shots with 2:12 remaining in the game.
Neither team was able to find the hoop again until Lindsey Cantrell hit
the second of two shots on a trip to the charity stripe compliments of
Hunsingers fifth foul, levied with 36 seconds remaining in the game.
Following a 30 second timeout by W&L head coach Mandy King, the Generals
got their own look from the foul line when Angie Evans fouled junior forward
Emily Barker (Clifton, Va./Mount Vernon) at the 23-second mark. Barker
drilled both shots to pull the Generals within 60-61.
A quick foul by senior forward Sarah Michaels (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy)

for Howard Payne, but the Yellow Jackets were unable to convert the free

the clock, but the last-second shot sailed long and ended W&Ls
comeback bid.
Michaels led the Generals with a game-high 24 points, while Hunsinger
chipped in a career-high 16 points and a game-leading seven rebounds.
In Fridays loss to Peace sophomore guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda,
Md./Winston Churchill) scored a team-high 13 points, while freshman guard
Sarah Otey (Williamsburg, Va./Hampton-Roads) contributed a career-high
11 points.
