W&L WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO RANDOLPH-MACON, 87-73
SALEM, Va. -- Junior forward Michelle Orton (Silver Spring,
Md./Springbrook) scored a team-high 20 points and pulled down a team-best
seven rebounds to help lead top-seeded Randolph-Macon to an 87-73 win
over eighth-seeded Washington and Lee in the quarterfinals of the ODAC
Tournament on Thursday afternoon at the Salem Civic Center. The Generals (13-13) trailed 7-2 with 17:32 remaining
in the first half, but went on a 20-9 run over the next 7:33 to assume
a 22-16 advantage at the 9:59 mark. The No. 5 Yellow Jackets (24-1)
retook the lead at 27-26 with 6:32 left and after W&L pulled to
within one at 30-29, R-MC closed out the half on a 12-0 run to take
a 42-29 lead into halftime. R-MC opened the second half on three-pointer by sophomore
guard Salem Shaffer (Glens Falls, N.Y./Glens Falls) to take a 16-point
lead (45-29). However, W&L went on a 17-4 spurt to pull within 49-46
at the 15:32 mark and then tied the game at 49-49 on a three-pointer
by freshman forward Hayley James (Mount Sidney, Va./Fort Defiance) at
15:02. The Yellow Jackets responded with a 14-2 run to take a 63-51
lead with 11:17 left and would maintain their double-digit lead for
the remainder of the game. The Generals were 27-for-69 (.391) from the field and
had 44 rebounds, including 19 offensive boards. R-MC was 34-for-70 (.486)
from the floor and committed just 11 turnovers. W&L was led by freshman forward Kristen Krouchick
(Holland, Pa./Nazareth Academy), who scored a career-high 24 points
and notched four rebounds. Sophomore center Jessica Hunsinger (Mayer,
Ariz./The Orme School) tallied 20 points and a game-high nine rebounds,
while junior guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill) added
11 points, eight assists and seven rebounds. She also became just the
fifth General to surpass the 1,000 point plateau and will enter her
senior season with 1,003 career points. Senior guard Bethany Dannelly
(Raleigh, N.C./William G. Enloe) dished out a season-tying high nine
assists. Orton was aided by junior guard Megan Silva (Glen Allen,
Va./Hermitage), who scored 18 points, handed out six assists, and collected
a game-high five steals. Shaffer finished with 14 points, three assists
and three steals. Washington and Lee concludes the season with a 13-13 overall
record and a 9-11 mark in the ODAC. -- GENERALS -- W&L WOMEN'S BASKETBALL EDGES EMORY & HENRY, 54-53 LEXINGTON, Va. -- Freshman forward Kristen Krouchick (Holland,
Pa./Nazareth Academy) connected on a three-point play with 24 seconds
remaining to lift Washington and Lee past Emory & Henry, 54-53,
in ODAC womens basketball action on Saturday afternoon at the
Warner Center. The Generals (13-12, 9-11) held a 47-36 lead with 9:37
remaining in the second half, but the Wasps (15-10, 12-8) went on a
15-2 run to take a 51-49 lead with 2:09 left. W&L tied the score
at 51-51 on a pair of free throws by senior guard Bethany Dannelly (Raleigh,
N.C./William G. Enloe) at the 1:52 mark. E&H retook the lead at 53-51 with 39 seconds left
on a jumper by senior guard Amy Hensley (Rose Hill, Va./Thomas Walker)
which set up Krouchicks game-tying layup and winning free throw.
The Wasps had two chances to win the game, but one shot was blocked
and the other rimmed out with two seconds remaining. The first half saw the two teams exchange the lead nine
times. The Wasps led 23-21 with 7:43 remaining in the half, but the
Generals went on a 13-2 spurt to close out the stanza and head into
halftime with a 34-25 advantage. W&L was led by junior guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda,
Md./Winston Churchill), who poured in a game-high 18 points, grabbed
eight rebounds and collected four steals. Krouchick finished with 10
points and four rebounds, while sophomore center Jessica Hunsinger (Mayer,
Ariz./The Orme School) had nine points, eight rebounds and a game-high
four blocks. She is now second all-time at W&L with 94 career blocks. Hensley led E&H with 13 points and five rebounds,
while freshman forward Sarah Worden (High Point, N.C./Wesleyan Christian)
added 10 points, six rebounds and three steals. Junior guard Brooke
Barker (Rogersville, Tenn./Cherokee) hauled in a game-high 12 rebounds. With the win, the Generals tied the school-record for
victories in a season. They return to action in the quarterfinals of
the ODAC Tournament on Thursday. The opponent and game time is still
to be determined. -- GENERALS -- W&L WOMENS BASKETBALL DROPS HEARTBREAKER TO GUILFORD,
65-60 GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Junior guard Jennifer King scored
a game-high 19 points to lead Guilford to a 65-60 win over Washington
and Lee in ODAC womens basketball action on Wednesday evening
in Greensboro, N.C. The Quakers (10-14, 8-11) used a 14-0 run late in the
first half to assume a 33-17 lead with 2:31 remaining. W&L then
responded with an 8-0 to cut the deficit to 33-25 at the break. Guilford began the second half with another small run
to take a 43-29 lead at the 15:54 mark, but W&L again fought back
with a 20-5 run to take a 49-48 lead with 7:12 left in the game. The
contest would remain close from that point on until Guilford claimed
a six-point lead (58-52) with 2:35 remaining. The Generals climbed back
to within 61-59 with 54 seconds remaining, but King hit four free throws
in the final minute to ice the game. W&L (12-12, 8-11) was led by junior guard Louisa Feve
(Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill), who scored 15 points. She hit two
three-pointers to set a new W&L record for season three-point makes
with 41. Sophomore center Jessica Hunsinger (Mayer, Ariz./Orme School)
notched 12 points and 12 rebounds, while senior forward Emily Barker
(Clifton, Va./Mount Vernon) and freshman forward Kristen Krouchick (Holland,
Pa./Nazareth Academy) each added nine points. Senior forward Courtney Hill and sophomore guard Dionne
Graham joined King in double-figures for Guilford. Hill posted 17 points
and 10 rebounds, while Graham registered 16 points. Washington and Lee completes its regular season with a
home date against Emory & Henry on Saturday at 2:00 pm. -- GENERALS -- W&L WOMEN'S BASKETBALL DOWNS HOLLINS, 63-43 LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee opened up the second
half on a 21-0 run in cruising to a 63-43 victory over Hollins in ODAC
womens basketball action on Saturday afternoon at the Warner Center. The Generals (12-11, 8-10) jumped out to an 18-6 lead
with 13:27 remaining in the first half, but Hollins (7-15, 3-14) closed
out the half on a 22-11 run to take a 28-27 lead into the break. W&L went on the aforementioned run to start the second
stanza and held Hollins scoreless for the first 8:56 of the half. The Generals were 27-for-60 (.450) from the field and
held a 44-24 advantage on the boards. Hollins was just 16-for-50 (.320)
from the floor, including 5-for-22 (.227) in the second half. W&L was led by sophomore center Jessica Hunsinger
(Mayer, Ariz./The Orme School), who notched a double-double with game-highs
of 25 points and 15 rebounds. She also had a game-high four blocks.

Ariz./The Orme School) notched a double-double with 16 points and 13
rebounds to help lead Washington and Lee to a 69-55 win over Lynchburg
in ODAC womens basketball action on Sunday afternoon at the Warner
Center. The Hornets (7-14, 4-12) raced out to a 14-6 lead with
15:51 remaining in the first half and maintained their lead until the
5:50 mark when freshman forward Amanda Kane (Fairfax Station, Va./Robinson
Secondary) hit a layup to tie the score at 25-25. W&L (11-11, 7-10)
took a 30-27 lead with 1:41 left, but Lynchburg recaptured the lead
at 32-30 heading into halftime. The Generals retook the lead at 34-32 with 18:45 left
in the second stanza and would never relinquish their advantage for
the remainder of the game. Their lead grew to as many as 18 points (66-48)
with 4:41 remaining. W&L forced 24 Lynchburg turnovers and held a 40-39
edge in rebounds. Junior guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill)
scored a game-high 21 points and dished out four assists. Senior guard
Bethany Dannelly (Raleigh, N.C./William G. Enloe) totaled 13 points

a career-high 32 points to lift Randolph-Macon Womans College
to a 69-59 win over Washington and Lee in ODAC womens basketball
action on Saturday afternoon. The Generals (10-11, 6-10) led 29-25 at the break and
held a slim 42-41 lead with 8:22 remaining in the game. However, RMWC
would go on an 11-3 run over the next 3:24 to assume a 53-44 lead with
4:58 left. W&L cut the lead to 53-49 on a jumper by freshman forward
Hayley James (Mt. Sidney, Va./Fort Defiance) with 3:34 remaining but
could get no closer as the WildCats hit 14-of-16 free throws the rest
of the way. W&L was led by sophomore center Jessica Hunsinger
(Mayer, Ariz./Orme School), who totaled 19 points and six rebounds.
Senior guard Bethany Dannelly (Raleigh, N.C./Enloe) tied a career-high
with 14 points and dished five assists, while James notched a career-high

Churchill) added 10 points. Johnson went 15-of-18 from the foul line and scored 28
of her 32 points in the second half. Her effort was supplemented by
junior forward Megan Stensrud, who tallied 18 points and eight rebounds. Washington and Lee returns to action on Sunday as it
hosts Lynchburg for a 4:30 pm contest. -- GENERALS -- W&L WOMENS BASKETBALL DROPS NAILBITER, 54-50, TO EMU HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Junior guard Stephanie Mathews scored
a game-high 21 points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds to lift Eastern
Mennonite to a 54-50 win over Washington and Lee in ODAC womens
basketball action on Tuesday evening. The Royals (14-5, 10-4) led by as many as seven points
(20-13) in the opening period and claimed a 29-25 lead at the break.
EMU pushed back to a 34-27 lead with 17:09 remaining in the game, but
a 7-0 Generals run over the next 1:30 knotted the game at 34-34.
From there, EMU went on a 10-2 run to take a 44-36 lead with 10:30 left
in the game and would not relinquish the lead. W&L closed to two
points at 46-44 with 5:39 remaining, but could get no closer. The Generals (10-10, 6-9) were led by senior guard Bethany

Va./Rural Retreat) hit two free throws with no time remaining on the
clock to give Roanoke a 47-46 victory over Washington and Lee in ODAC
womens basketball action on Saturday afternoon at the Warner Center. The Generals (10-9, 6-8) appeared to have the victory
in hand after senior forward Emily Barker (Clifton, Va./Mount Vernon)
gave W&L a 46-45 lead with seven seconds left on a pair of free
throws. However, Forrester was fouled after junior guard Lindsay Reynolds
(Roanoke, Va./Cave Spring) missed a last second desperation shot. The Generals jumped out to a 9-4 lead with 16:47 left
in the first half, but the Maroons (13-5, 9-5) went on a 12-6 over the
next 10:06 to take their first lead of the game at 16-15. W&L closed
out the half on a 10-7 spurt to take a 25-23 lead into halftime. The Generals opened up a seven-point advantage at 36-29
with 13:21 remaining in the second half, but Roanoke tied the game at
36-36 at the 7:51 mark. W&L held a 44-41 edge with 1:18 remaining,

action on Tuesday evening. The Generals (10-8, 6-7) had a chance to tie at the buzzer,
but senior guard Bethany Dannellys (Raleigh, N.C./Enloe) three-pointer
rimmed out. W&L jumped out to a 30-16 lead with 6:09 remaining
in the first half, but the Wasps (11-6, 8-4) closed the half on a 13-4
run to cut the advantage to 34-29 at the break. The Generals pushed
back to a 42-35 lead at the 16:40 mark, but a 13-2 run gave the Wasps
a 48-44 lead with 10 minutes left in the game. The Generals never assumed
the lead again, but tied the game on several occasions, including at
66-66 on a three-pointer by junior guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston
Chuchill) with 1:29 remaining. The Wasps outscored the Generals 21-5 at the free throw
line and had 26 offensive rebounds. W&L was led by sophomore center Jessica Hunsinger

Ariz./The Orme School) and junior guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston
Churchill) each recorded a double-double to help lead the Washington
and Lee womens basketball team to a 71-55 victory over Southern
Virginia on Friday night at the Warner Center. Hunsinger scored 17 points
and pulled down a season-high 17 rebounds, while Feve had 16 points
and a season-high 10 boards. After missing their first eight shots, the Generals (10-7)
only trailed 7-5 with 12:38 remaining in the first half. However, W&L
then went on a 26-6 run to take a 31-13 lead with 4:16 left in the half.
The Knights (5-13) responded by closing out the half on an 11-0 spurt
and went into the break down just 31-24. Southern Virginia then opened up the second half on 11-4
run to knot the score at 35-35 with 16:24 remaining in the game. W&L
retook the lead at 37-35 on a pair of free throws by Feve and methodically
pushed its advantage back to double figures at 54-44 with 8:10 remaining.
From there, the Generals wouldnt surrender their double-digit
advantage. W&L forced Southern Virginia into 28 turnovers and
held a 51-43 advantage on the boards. The Generals received a game-high 19 points from freshman
forward Kristen Krouchick (Holland, Pa./Nazareth Academy), while freshman
forward Amanda Kane (Fairfax Station, Va./Robinson Secondary) added
six points, eight rebounds, and a game-high five steals. Southern Virginia was led by freshman center Chelsea Lund
(Buena Vista, Va./Parry McCluer), who scored 13 points and grabbed seven
rebounds. Sophomore guard Kim Anderson (Orem, Utah/Mountain View) also
notched 13 points and had a team-best six assists. With the win, W&L eclipsed last seasons win
total. The Generals return to action on Tuesday at Emory & Henry.

36 seconds left and Bridgewater held on to defeat Washington and Lee,
64-61, in ODAC womens basketball action on Tuesday night at the
Warner Center. The Generals (9-7, 6-6) surged to a 9-4 lead with 15:04
remaining in the first half, but the Eagles (11-4, 6-4) responded with
a 20-2 run over the next 8:08 to take a 24-11 advantage. Bridgewater
carried a 30-22 lead into halftime. The Eagles began the second half on a 17-9 spurt to take
a 16-point lead (47-31) with 14:08 remaining in the game. However, W&L
began to slowly chip away at the deficit and pulled to within two points
at 59-57 with 1:58 left. Following a turnover by Bridgewater sophomore
forward Jessica Young (Fisherville, Va./Wilson Memorial), the Generals
tied the game at 59-59 with 1:01 remaining on a layup by freshman forward

a 62-59 lead on Hermes three-point play. W&L made it 62-61 on a layup by sophomore center Jessica

pair of free throws by Bridgewater junior guard Marsha Kinder (Bridgewater,
Va./Turner Ashby) with 13 seconds gave the Eagles a 64-61 edge. The
Generals had one last chance to tie the game, but a three-pointer by
junior guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill) fell short

run over the next 5:31 to take a 23-18 lead. R-MWC retook the lead at
26-25 at the 3:20 mark and went into halftime with a 32-30 advantage. The two teams battled each other evenly throughout most
of the second stanza and W&L held a slim 56-54 advantage with 3:24
left in the game. The Generals then went on a 6-2 spurt to take their
largest lead of six points (62-56) with just 39 seconds remaining. W&L
went 4-for-4 from the free throw line in the final 10 seconds to seal

ties and neither team held a lead larger than four points until the
Yellow Jackets (13-1, 10-0) took a 26-21 lead with 5:30 remaining in
the first half. The Generals (7-6, 4-5) responded with a 10-0 run to
close the half and take a 31-26 advantage into halftime. Randolph-Macon then opened the second half on a 15-5
run to take a 41-36 lead with 16:23 remaining in the game. W&L pulled

went on a 14-2 run late in the second half to tie the game at 49-49
with 3:47 remaining in the game. Roanoke reassumed the lead, but the
Generals remained within striking distance and trailed just 54-52 with
1:45 remaining. However, the Maroons hit 12-of-14 free throws and closed
the game on a 14-2 run to take the victory. Free throws proved to be the difference in the game as
Roanoke outscored the Generals 21-5 at the charity stripe. W&L was paced by junior guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda,

remaining in the first half and never looked back. Junior guard Louisa
Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill), who was named to the all-tournament
team, scored eight points during the spurt, including a pair of three
pointers. The Gators (0-2) responded with a 6-0 run to make it
