BURKE DUNCAN WINS TITLE AT VIRGINIA WESLEYAN INVITATIONAL

NORFOLK, Va. -- Washington and Lee junior Burke Duncan (Oklahoma City, Okla./Casady) won the overall women’s cross country championhsip at the Va. Wesleyan Invitational with a time of 19:50 on Saturday morning.

Duncan’s finish helped the Generals finish fourth out of seven teams at their first meet of the year. W&L finished the race with 92 points.

Other top finishers for W&L included senior Gretchen Tencza (South Meriden, Conn./Orville H. Platt) who finished 10th with a time of 21:58 and senior Lucy Rankin (Atlanta, Ga./Westminster) who crossed the finish line with a time of 22:48 to finish in 21st place.

Eastern Mennonite won the team championship with 33 points. They were followed by Roanoke (52 points), Lynchburg (84 points) and W&L.

W&L returns to action next Saturday as they host the Generals Invitational at 10:00 am.
