VIRGINIA WESLEYAN EDGES RANDOLPH-MACON, 14-13, IN ODAC TOURNAMENT SEMIFINALS LEXINGTON, Va. – Junior attacker Chrissy Clancy (Oak Hill, Va./Oakton) scored four goals and added an assist, and freshman midfielder Kasey Marchwicki (Boyds, Md./Poolesville) tallied four goals to help lead second-seeded Virginia Wesleyan to a 14-13 win over third-seeded Randolph-Macon in the ODAC Tournament semifinals on Saturday afternoon at Watt Field. R-MC responded by tallying the next three goals to tie the contest at 9-9 with 23:40 left in the game. Junior midfielder Lizzy Spero (Phoenix, Md./John Carroll) had two goals and an assist during the spurt. The Marlins then scored the next four goals to grab their largest lead of the game at 13-9 with 18:18 left in the game. Sophomore midfielder Alex Wright (Bethesda, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) tallied back-to-back goals to pull the Yellow Jackets within 13-11 at the 13:18 mark, but an unassisted tally by Marchwicki upped the Marlins' lead to 14-11. R-MC scored the final two goals, including an unassisted marker by Phelps with just 52 seconds remaining, but it wouldn't be able to score the equalizing goal. Boyd finished with three goals and two assists, while senior midfielder Laura Wallace (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) added one goal and three helpers. Freshman goalkeeper Ashley Sippel (Leesburg, Va./Ashburn Stone Bridge) played all 60:00 and made seven saves. For R-MC, Spero finished with three goals and one assist and Sergi tallied three scores. Phelps posted two goals and three assists, while sophomore goalkeeper Lindsay Schabert (Falmouth, Va./Stafford) also played the entire game and stopped 14 shots. Virginia Wesleyan will play top-seeded Washington and Lee in the ODAC Championship Game on Sunday at 2:00 pm. The Generals advanced with a 12-2 win over Roanoke. SCORING: GOALTENDING: -- GENERALS --
