W&L WOMEN'S LACROSSE DOWNS LYNCHBURG, 21-4, IN ODAC TOURNAMENT SEMIFINALS LEXINGTON, Va. -- Top-seeded and 20th-ranked Washington and Lee jumped out to a 16-3 halftime lead and cruised to a 21-4 victory over fifth-seeded Lynchburg in the semifinals of the ODAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Watt Field. The Hornets (8-10) scored first when freshman midfielder Kathryn Ollice (West Chester, Pa./West Chester) found the net unassisted just 1:25 into the game. However, the Generals (13-3) went on to score the game's next nine goals, including three from senior attacker Avery Lovejoy (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) and two each from sophomore midfielder Colleen Evans (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) and junior midfielder Megan Slosson (Cockeysville, Md./Maryvale Prep) for a 9-1 lead at the 17:05 mark of the first half. Lynchburg responded with unassisted goals by junior attacker Nichole Locher (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) and sophomore attacker Deana Welsch (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) to cut the margin to 9-3 with 11:47 left in the opening 30 minutes, but the Generals closed the half with a seven-goal flurry and never looked back. Slosson paced the W&L offense with five goals, while sophomore attacker Kelsi Robinson (West Chester, Pa./Westtown) notched three goals and two assists. Evans, Lovejoy and freshman attacker Britten Mathews (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) all added three goals and one assist. Junior Sarah Tilbor (West Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) and sophomore Ali Hillyard (Media, Pa./Episcopal) split time in goal, combining to make four saves. Locher led the Hornets with two goals, while senior Ji-Young Eun (Fairfax, Va./W.T. Woodson) notched eight saves in goal. The Generals will now play the winner of the second semifinal between Randolph-Macon and Roanoke in Sunday's championship game at 2:00 pm. SCORING: GOALTENDING: -- GENERALS --
