W&L WOMEN'S LACROSSE CRUISES PAST SWEET BRIAR,
20-3 LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team won its school-record 13th straight game, 20-3, over Sweet Briar in the first round of the ODAC Tournament on Wednesday at the Liberty Hall Fields. The Generals (13-1) and the Vixens traded goals in the first two minutes before W&L ripped off a 14-0 run to close out the half leading 15-1. The Generals then outscored Sweet Briar 5-2 in the second stanza for the final margin.Washington and Lee held advantages of 38-7 in shots and 47-24 in ground balls while forcing the Vixens into 21 turnovers. Sophomore midfielder Natalya Hoobchaak (Barrington, Ill./Loyola Academy) was the high point-scorer for the Generals with two goals and three assists. Freshman midfielder Katharine Lester (Wilmington, Del./Friends) notched three goals, while senior attacker Leslie Bogart (Wilton, Conn./Wilton), junior midfielders Kelly Taffe (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) and Lee Wheeler (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr), sophomore midfielder Erin Rathbone (Darnestown, Md./Northwest) and freshman midfielder Amanda Strickler (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) finished with two goals apiece. Junior netminder Joanna Perini (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) made one save. Junior attacker Anne Benham (The Woodlands, Texas/Woodlands), junior midfielder Maria Kitchin (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy) and freshman midfielder Kim Kopady (Lake Oswego, Ore.) accounted for the Vixens' (5-9) three goals. Junior Tasha Purcell (McLean, Va./Connelly) turned back 10 saves in net. W&L will host the ODAC Semifinal on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. against
