W&L WOMEN'S LACROSSE EDGES RANDOLPH-MACON, 6-5, FOR ODAC TITLE LEXINGTON, Va. Top-seeded Washington and Lee overcame
a 5-2 deficit late in the second half to post a 6-5 win over third-seeded
Randolph-Macon in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship game.
For the 12th-ranked Generals, it was their third consecutive conference
crown. W&L (14-3) began the comeback with 14:07 remaining when
senior midfielder Kitt Murphy (New York, N.Y./St. Catherines) found the
net unassisted. Murphy then notched a free position goal with 11:48 remaining
and competed the comeback with another unassisted tally with 5:36 remaining
in the game. Senior midfielder Kristen Brown (Baltimore, Md./Catonsville)
then scored the game-winner with 3:51 left in the game as she found the
net unassisted. Randolph-Macon (10-6) led 2-1 at the half and extended its
lead with a three-goal spurt over a course of 3:42 midway through the
second stanza. Freshman attacker Halley Boring (Laurel, Md./Atholton)
began the run with a goal at the 18:36 mark and ended the surge by assisting
on a goal by freshman defender Morgan Sergi (Phoenix, Md./John Carroll)
at the 14:54 mark. Murphy finished with three goals for the Generals, while
Brown, junior midfielder Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill),
and senior attacker Erin Rathbone (Darnestown, Md./Northwest) all had
one goal. Freshman Sarah Tilbor (West Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) made seven
saves in goal. The Yellow Jackets were led by Boring, who tallied two goals
and one assist. Freshman goalkeeper Lindsay Schabert (Fredericksburg,
