W&L WOMEN'S LACROSSE FALLS TO TOP-RANKED SALISBURY, 15-4
SALISBURY, Md. -- Top-ranked Salisbury University raced out to a 5-0
lead and never looked back in defeating 13th-ranked Washington and Lee,
15-4, in the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament Quarterfinals on Sunday
afternoon in Salisbury, Md. Sea Gull (16-0) junior attacker Kate Scott started the game-opening
five-goal flurry just 33 seconds into the game when she found the net
unassisted. W&L sliced the lead to 5-2 with 12:28 left in the first half on
a pair of unassisted tallys by junior attacker Amanda Strickler (Lexington,
Va./Rockbridge County), but Salisbury closed the half with six straight
goals for an 11-2 halftime lead. The Generals cut the SU advantage to 11-4 with 21:19 remaining in the
game on unassisted goals by senior midfielder Natalya Hookchaak (Barrington,
Ill./Loyola Academy) and junior defender Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston
Churchill), but the Sea Gulls closed with four straight goals for the
11-goal win. Washington and Lee could not overcome 28 turnovers which led to a
36-19 advantage in shots for Salisbury. Stickler led the W&L offense with two goals, while freshman Sarah
Tilbor (West Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) notched 12 saves between the
pipes. Senior midfielder Linda Ackerman paced the Sea Gulls with three goals,
while Scott posted two goals and two assists. Junior attacker Amanda
Tack added two goals and one assist, and junior Ali Goetz recorded 10
saves in goal. With the loss, the Generals' season ends with a 15-4 overall record, tying the school record for victories in a season. Salisbury advances to the NCAA Division III Final Four held at The College of New Jersey next weekend. team jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never trailed in defeating fourth-ranked
Amherst College, 11-9, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on
Saturday afternoon at Salisbury University. The win was W&L's first-ever in the NCAA Tournament and gave the
Generals a 15-3 overall record, tying the school record for victories
in a season. Sophomore attacker Kelly Evans (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County)
opened the scoring just 2:17 into the game as she found the net off
an assist from senior midfielder Kitt Murphy (New York, N.Y./St. Catherines).
The Generals upped the score to 2-0 on an unassisted goal by junior
defender Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill) at the 21:42
mark and junior defender Rachel Wallick (Phoenix, Md./Notre Dame Prep)
extended the lead to 3-0 with an unassisted tally at the 18:17 mark.
Sophomore midfielder Mallory Lobisser (Bainbridge Island, Wash./Lakeside)
capped the opening run with a goal at the 17:51 mark off an assist from
junior attacker Amanda Strickler (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County). The Lord Jeffs (12-4) responded with two straight goals to cut the
W&L lead to 4-2 with 10:05 remaining in the opening half, but senior
defender Maggie Speasmaker (Charlottesville, Va./St. Annes-Belfield)
scored off an assist from senior midfielder Natalya Hoobchaak (Barrington,
Ill./Loyola Academy) with 4:07 remaining to give the Generals a three-goal
lead. Amherst then closed the half on a two-goal run and the Generals
headed to the break with a 5-4 lead. Just 1:26 into the second half, Strickler gave the Generals a 6-4 lead
on a goal assisted by Feve, but senior attacker Ashley Harmeling and
junior attacker Scotty Hanley both scored for Amherst to knot the game
at 6-6 with 27:40 remaining. The Generals responded with a two-goal run for an 8-6 lead with 23:42
left, but Harmeling found the net again to cut the margin to 8-7 with
21:26 remaining. W&L again extended to a two-goal lead (9-7) on an unassisted goal
by senior midfielder Kristen Brown (Baltimore, Md./Catonsville), but
again Amherst clawed back to tie the game at 9-9 with 10:13 remaining
on a Harmeling tally. The Generals regained the lead at the 7:56 mark as Lobisser scored
unassisted, and would put the game away on a Strickler goal assisted
by Evans with 3:20 left in the game. Lobisser led W&L with three goals, while Strickler tallied two
goals and one assist. Freshman Sarah Tilbor (West Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury)
was sensational in goal, stopping 14 shots. Amherst was led by Harmeling's four goals. Hanley and freshman attacker
Maddie Hoeg each notched two goals, while senior Liz D'Ambrosio tallied

crown. W&L (14-3) began the comeback with 14:07 remaining when
senior midfielder Kitt Murphy (New York, N.Y./St. Catherines) found the
net unassisted. Murphy then notched a free position goal with 11:48 remaining
and competed the comeback with another unassisted tally with 5:36 remaining

then scored the game-winner with 3:51 left in the game as she found the
net unassisted. Randolph-Macon (10-6) led 2-1 at the half and extended its
lead with a three-goal spurt over a course of 3:42 midway through the
second stanza. Freshman attacker Halley Boring (Laurel, Md./Atholton)
began the run with a goal at the 18:36 mark and ended the surge by assisting
on a goal by freshman defender Morgan Sergi (Phoenix, Md./John Carroll)
at the 14:54 mark. Murphy finished with three goals for the Generals, while
Brown, junior midfielder Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill),
and senior attacker Erin Rathbone (Darnestown, Md./Northwest) all had
one goal. Freshman Sarah Tilbor (West Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) made seven
saves in goal. The Yellow Jackets were led by Boring, who tallied two goals
and one assist. Freshman goalkeeper Lindsay Schabert (Fredericksburg,

attacker Amanda Hutchins found the net unassisted just one minute into
the game. However, the Generals responded by reeling off six straight
goals by six different players for a 6-1 lead with 5:42 remaining in the
first half. Roanoke cut the advantage to 6-2 with a goal at the 3:22 mark
of the first half, but W&L (11-2, 7-0) again went on a run. This time,
the Generals scored eight straight markers for a 14-2 lead midway through
the second half in cruising to the win. Strickler's fine outing was accompanied by two goals and
one assist from sophomore midfielder Mallory Lobisser (Bainbridge Island,
Wash./Lakeside) and one goal and two assists by senior midfielder Natalya
Hoobchaak (Barrington, Ill./Loyola Academy). Junior attacker Kate Lester

first half on goals by freshman midfielders Caitlin Erickson and Julia
Durkin and sophomore midfielder Jackie Rose. The Generals (6-1) responded
to score the next three goals, including two by Lester, to take a 4-3
lead into halftime. W&L tallied the first three goals of the second half
to extend to a 7-3 with 15:10 remaining in the game. Sophomore midfielder

scored three consecutive goals to give the Generals (5-1, 2-0) a 3-0 lead
with 22:53 remaining in the first half. The Quakers (2-2, 0-1) pulled
to within 3-1 on a goal by freshman attacker Mary Hutchins at 20:45, but
W&L scored the next four goals to take an 8-1 advantage. Lovejoy scored
two of her goals during the spurt. Guilford answered with three straight goals to cut the
deficit to 8-4 with 3:29 left in the first half, but sophomore midfielder

goal at the 1:27 mark to give W&L a 9-4 advantage heading into halftime.
The Generals took a 10-4 lead on a goal by sophomore midfielder

second half, before Lovejoy notched the final three W&L goals. The game was then called due to inclement weather with
9:43 remaining in the second half. Lester finished with three goals, while Evans totaled two

D.C. The Generals (3-1) got goals from six different players
and were led by sophomore attacker Avery Lovejoy (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich),
who tallied a goal and an assist. Senior midfielder Erin Rathbone (Darnestown,
Md./Northwest), junior defender Kate Lester (Wilmington, Del./Friends),

No. 14 Franklin and Marshall in women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon
at Watt Field. The Generals (1-1) led 2-1 with 4:50 gone-by in the first
half, but the Diplomats (0-1) scored three straight goals, including two
by junior attacker Kristen Foster (Denver, Colo./Kent Denver), to take
a 4-2 advantage with 13:19 remaining in the first half. W&L junior
attacker Amanda Strickler (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) notched an
unassisted tally at the 19:27 mark to cut the deficit to 4-3, which was
the score heading into halftime. The Generals trailed 5-3 just 3:10 into the second half,
but would score the next three goals to take a 6-5 lead with 15:58 remaining
in the game. Freshman attacker Christine Bender (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown)
scored the first of her three goals to give W&L the lead. F&M
replied with two goals to take a 7-6 lead and the Generals responded with
a pair of goals to go up 8-7. The Diplomats tied the game at 8-8 on a free position goal
by sophomore midfielder Brenna Dolphin (Wilmington, Del./Archmere) with
5:33 left in the game, which set up Hoobchaak's game-winner. Hoobchaak notched one goal and two assists in the game,
while sophomore midfielder Kelly Evans (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County)
added a pair of goals. F&M was led by Foster, who had three goals and an assist.
Senior attacker Alexis O'Meara (Millersville, Md./Severn School) also

11th-ranked St. Mary's to an 8-7 win over 20th-ranked Washington and Lee
in women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Watt Field. The Generals (0-1) led 7-6 with 8:49 remaining after an
unassisted tally by sophomore midfielder Mallory Lobisser (Bainbridge
Island, Wash./Lakeside). However, the Seahawks tied the game just 1:31
later as junior midfielder Allyson Sarigianis (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll)
scored on a free position shot and setting up Christoffersen's game-winner. W&L trailed 4-2 at the 29:06 mark of the second half,
but fought back with three goals in a span of 2:26 to assume a 5-4 lead
with 20:52 remaining. St. Mary's retaliated with a pair of goals at the
11:04 and 10:38 marks to reassume the lead, before a pair of W&L goals
gave the Generals the lead entering the Seahawks decisive run. W&L was led by senior midfielder Kristen Brown (Baltimore,
Md./Catonsville) and sophomore attacker Avery Lovejoy (Old Greenwich,
Conn./Greenwich) who scored two goals each. Freshman Sarah Tilbor (West
Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) stopped seven shots in her first career game
in goal. Senior attacker Karli Libertini (Baltimore, Md./Catonsville)
led St. Mary's (1-0) with three goals. Sarigianis and senior defender
Jenn Nordling (Sykesville, Md./South Carroll) both notched two goals,
while Christoffersen added a pair of assists. Sophomore Melissa Puzak
