LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Junior midfielder Heather Kirby scored at the 133:50 mark in the third overtime as Lynchburg handed Washington and Lee a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat in the finals of the ODAC Women's Soccer Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
The game-winning goal deflected off a W&L defender and got by senior goalkeeper Lauren Harris (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hill). Harris kept the Generals in the game the entire day by making 20 saves.
Freshman forward Susannah Hewlett (Charlottesville, Va./Charlottesville) notched the game's first goal at the 6:38 mark off an assist from Jenny Thomas (High Point, N.C./High Point Central).
Lynchburg fought back in the 40th minute on a goal from Kacey Crabbe with an assist from Jana Thoma.
The game then remained scoreless for 94 minutes, setting up Kirby's heroics. Lynchburg (18-3-2) outshot W&L, 36-9. The Hornets also attempted 19 corner kicks to W&L's one.
For their efforts in the ODAC tournament, junior Kate Bidwell (Pensacola, Fla./Escambia) and seniors Shana Levine (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) and Harris were named to the all-tournament team.
Washington and Lee finished the season with a record of 12-6.

Randolph-Macon (11-9) got on the board first as sophomore Allison Picarde scored an unassisted goal at the 26:13 mark.
The Generals (12-5) answered at the 31:41 mark as Coleman scored off an assist by senior midfielder Liz Olson (Brookfield, Conn./Loomis-Chaffee). The Generals added the game-winner 6:44 later as junior midfielder Drew Powers (Atlanta, Ga./Lovett School) scored off a feed from senior back Shana Levine (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson).
Marcoux upped the W&L lead to 3-1 with an unassisted goal at the 57:37 mark and assisted on Coleman's second goal with 64:53 gone-by.
Senior Lauren Harris notched two saves in goal for the Generals.
Washington and Lee will play tournament host and No. 1 seed Lynchburg on Saturday at 1:00 pm in the finals.

The Generals (10-5, 8-3) outshot Roanoke on the day, 15-11, and took six corner kicks as opposed to just four for the Maroons (10-6-1, 8-2-1).

Junior midfielder Kate Bidwell (Pensacola, Fla./Escambia) started the scoring for the Generals at the 54:06 mark with an assist from Marcoux.
Ferrum (3-8) fought back three minutes later with a goal from Mary Jennette to tie the score at 1-1. Marcoux then scored the game-winner in the 72nd minute off a pass from Bidwell.
Bidwell added a goal and two assists, while sophomore forward Ruth-Hill Yielding (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook) scored two late second half goals for W&L (9-5).

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Carnegie Mellon used a late second half goal by Lauren Taylor to snap Washington and Lee's five-game winning streak, 1-0, in women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon.
Taylor scored at the 81:24 mark off an assist from Erica Anderson to give the Tartans (6-7-1) the victory. Washington and Lee (8-5) was outshot by the Carnegie Mellon, 13-4.

Duran hustled up from her defensive back position and fired a long range shot that beat Randolph-Macon freshman goalkeeper Ashley Seal (Richmond, Va./Collegiate). It was Duran's second goal of the season.

Emory College won the tournament with a record of 2-0 after defeating Sewanee 2-0 on Sunday.
Senior Liz Olson (Brookfield, Conn./Loomis-Chaffee), junior Kate Bidwell (Pensacola, Fla./Escambia), and Marcoux were named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Generals return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 13, vs. Randolph-Macon in both the home opener and the beginning of Old Dominion Athletic Conference play. Game time is set for 4:00 pm on the Liberty Hall Fields.

Sewanee, Tenn. -- The Washington and Lee women's soccer team lost its season-opener on Saturday afternoon to Emory University, 4-1, at the Sewanee Tournament.
Emory jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first 24 minutes of the contest on goals by Jayme Yarow, Amber Poe and Caroline Hoit.
W&L came right back with an unassisted goal from freshman forward Susannah Hewlett (Charlottesville, Va./Charlottesville) at the 25:19 mark. Emory goalkeeper Andrea Pawliczak held W&L scoreless for the rest of the game.
The Generals (0-1) were outshot by Emory 24-13. Hewlett and senior forward Shana Levine (Hudson, Oh./Hudson) led W&L with three shots each.
Senior goalkeeper Lauren Harris (Cincinnati, Oh./Indian Hill) recorded 20 saves for the Generals.
The Generals will look to regroup against Meredith College on Sunday at 11:00 am in the second round of the tournament.
